Several times I came across this name going through biography books. And it came to my attention  again recently while I was reading about Diane Vreeland . Once I looked up on internet , I got even more fascinated about this beautiful with an aristocratic look , but at the same time very modern and fashionable woman.

C.Z. Guest was an American socialite and a fashion icon  who continues to influence fashion today. Her unfussy, clean-cut style was seen as typically American. Often adorned by Mainbocher, Givenchy and Adolfo, she was chosen by the New York Dress Institute as one of the best-dressed women in the world early in the 1950’s and remained on the list for years until her elevation to the Fashion Hall of Fame.
She  was painted by artist like Diego Rivera, Salvador Dalì and Andy Warhol . She also has been photographed several times for Vogue by photographs like Irving Penn and Cecil Beaton and appeared on the Time magazine cover as part of an article on American society . She was surprisingly modern, exerting influence over America’s cultural landscape for fifty years, whether attending her close friend Truman Capote’s Black and White Ball, dancing at Studio 54, or partying at Andy Warhol’s Factory.
She was married with a polo player Winston Frederick Churchill Guest—second cousin to Winston Churchill. Ernest Hemingway was best man at the wedding, which took place at Hemingway’s home in Havana, Cuba.
